Truths about love from 1 John 4

For some reason, God really likes to show us His love and the depth of His love and the practicality of His love through people. I’m just saying this based off of recent experience, and it’s just a thought. An interesting one, because it means that people are really important – not just because God made them and because of the given (that human beings are valuable) but that they are also useful to other human beings in part B of their purpose: to show the love of God. (Part A being: love God, Part B being: love people).

Love love love. I’m learning about love……..about how perfect love casts out fear. And about how love is practical and it is emotional and it is NECESSARY. Because, a life without love isn’t just sad and isolating and boring. (It is those things, but not just those things). A life without love is – get this – a life of rebellion. It’s true. God wants us to have love. God wants us to love. God wants us to know that we are loved (realize it’s not that God wants us to be loved, but He wants us to KNOW that we ARE loved). Amen and amen! (Amen: it is so; so be it).

Read through 1 John 4:7 – 21, if you will, please! 🙂

Practical application: (I love practical applications!)
1. Are you living a life of love?
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. – 1 John 4:7-8
…..if not, why not? What’s holding you back?
…..if yes, then amen and amen and I pray for more love for you!

2. Are you living your life knowingYOU are loved?
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. – 1 John 4:9
….if not…..what is keeping you from knowing that you are loved Knowing comes by having seen love, experienced love, heard of love, or from having an awareness of love. Knowledge is a thing which we have daily easy access to…….through reading the Word, by asking questions, by seeking out answers, and by listening to wise counsel. Do those things and you will soon know (have the knowledge) that you are loved.
….if yes, then amen and amen and I pray that this knowledge increases, blows you away, and that you share this knowledge of God’s love with others!

3. Are you living a life believing you are loved?
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. – 1 John 4:10 – 16
….if not, then what lies are you believing? Who is telling you these lies (if you’re listening and believing lies telling you that you are not loved, then it’s from satan; because he is a liar and an accuser). John 3:16 – “God so loved the world.” If you are reading this, you are loved; because you are part of the world. Believe it. Otherwise, you’re believing satan.
….if yes, then amen and amen and I pray we keep claiming, believing, and acting out those promises!

4. Are you loving others fearlessly?
By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 19We love because he first loved us. 20If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannota love God whom he has not seen. 21And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. – 1 John 4:17-21
….if not, what are you scared of? What is hindering you from loving fully or loving without fear? Because, perfect love casts out fear! If it’s from past rejection and pain in relationships (to be honest – many times, it is); then it’s something that needs to be worked through and healed by God, and sometimes, if possible or wise, with another person. That’s done through prayer, and sometimes through having hard, intentional conversations.
….if yes, then amen and amen and I pray for more for all of us and I pray against attacks the devil has to hinder us from loving fully.
