Rescue Run: Saturday, October 13th

The Story: My friend, Lilli, is directing a RESCUE RUN in Iowa City this Saturday to raise money for a nonprofit agency called Rapha House. Rapha House is busy “fighting child trafficking and sexual exploitation” in multiple countries around the world, including Cambodia. Lilli had the opportunity to go to Cambodia a couple years ago, and she was touched by the heart of the Father both there and upon her return to the States. Since then, she has been a modern day abolitionist – fighting human trafficking by sharing stories, creating awareness, and planning fundraisers like the Rescue Run to raise money for those who have been victims of sexual exploitation.
Below is one of the experience Lilli had that inspires her to keep fighting, praying, and crying out for justice.

Hi!
My name is Lillian and I am the director of The Rescue Run!

In 2010, I was able to travel to SE Asia with Rapha House, the organization that The Rescue Run is donating to. There are many stories and experiences that I could share, but I have chosen the story closest to my heart. While in Asia, I was able to go to Bloom, a cupcake cafe where many Rapha girls learn a new trade and start to begin their adult life. Upon entering we began “oohing and aahing” over the beautiful cakes and cupcakes. One young woman ran from behind the counter to the back alley. When her teacher went to see what was wrong, the girl said this: “I am crying because this is the first time anyone has told me I did a good job. My family told me I would never be good at anything.” This story touches my heart because not only was she able to be LOVED, RESCUED, and HEALED from sex trafficking, she is also in an environment where she finds true joy, acceptance, and purpose. What a tragedy if young girls go their whole lives not knowing they can do good things and are beautiful!

I tell you this story to encourage you, you are being a modern day abolitionist by signing up for the Rescue Run! Please consider meeting our challenge of raising $360 by race day. You will receive a bracelet made by women at Rapha House and be recognized at the race. You can do this through collecting checks (made out to Rapha House) or cash and bringing it TO THE RUN. Or, you can open your own fundraising page through your active account! If you need help with this, please email: therescuerun@gmail.com We can help you start a fundraising campaign and help support a child for a year!

Blessings,
Lillian
