Battle at Kruger

The Story:
I just came back from an amazing weekend at Wildwood Hills Ranch, where we had a great girl’s bounce back retreat. God was definitely at work in a lot of lives this weekend (PRAISE THE LORD!), and one of the things He was/is showing me relates to how we treat one another within the Body of Christ.

When we act out of fear, we not only cause danger for ourselves; we put others at risk. We allow the enemy to more easily attack the weaker ones, because when we are in fear, our focus is on ourself and our own situation instead of on God. We take our eyes off of God (and His eyes are on His people) and we take our eyes off His bigness, His majesty, His power, His sovereignty, His control, His might – and we put the focus on our weakness. Our weakness will not overcome anything! God’s power will overcome everything! Why focus on what cannot overcome!? Focus on what can! We cannot! God can!

God did not give us a Spirit of fear. When we fear, it is NOT from God.
For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7 We were NOT made for fear!!! We were made for COURAGE! We were made to be WARRIORS! FIGHTERS OF and FOR FAITH! POWERFUL LOVERS OF GOD!

We were made to “step up to the plate”. (Props to Pastor Michael Hurst for sharing this great Truth with us). After we heard this hard, but encouraging message of Truth – how God wants and expects us to “step up to the plate” – we were able to talk about how we’ve been “dropped” in our lives and how we’ve also been “picked up” by people.

I WANT TO BE SOMEONE WHO PICKS UP PEOPLE! I WANT TO BE IN THE BODY, GATHERING OTHERS BACK TO THE BODY – FUSING THE BODY BACK TOGETHER. WE CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT DO IT ALONE. (and…let’s be honest…who is going to cut off an arm, watch it lay on the ground as the blood and life all drains out, and never pick it up to reattach it to the Body? A gross picture of the reality we see and walk past every day…)

When we act like we can do it alone, we deceive ourselves. When we act like we can do it alone, satan attacks us; because he can attack the weaker ones and the isolated ones much more easily. When we act like others can do it alone; we are letting them walk in darkness. Not okay. This is NOT okay.

Check out this video (props Matt Moeckl for the reference) of live footage from Kruger National park located in South Africa, where these Truths are displayed through God’s creation.

The lions and the crocodile are the enemies. We are the buffalo. The baby buffalo is a weak one.
Did you see what happened? When the buffalo saw the lion, he did not stop to assess the situation. He did not stop to think about his size or power verses the size and power of the lions. He reacted IMMEDIATELY. How? …out of fear! If the buffalo would have reacted out of WHO HE WAS, WHO HE WAS CREATED TO BE, and WHO IS ENEMY WAS, he would not have reacted out of fear.

This is completely relevant for us! We often times don’t act based on who we are in Christ. Who are we in Christ?

…we are more than conquerors in Christ. – Romans 8:37

When others get attacked, it is not time for us, as Believers – as brothers and sisters in Christ – to leave them out in the cold! Who do we think we are – as royalty, as brothers and sisters who have FULL access to God’s power – to shrink down to the enemy’s level and give in to fear? NO! Our God is bigger than that! We are not representing a dead God! We are representing CHRIST! We are not going to let ourselves or our weaker brothers and sisters be attacked! When we are afraid, we call on
1. GOD for power
2. THE BODY OF CHRIST for encouragement, help, and strength.

So, Jesus – I pray:
1. You would exchange our pride for Your humility
-> we call upon your name
-> ask the Body of Christ for help!

2. You would exchange our selfishness for Your loving-kindness
-> we listen to You
-> respond rightly to the other members of Your Body

Jesus, give us boldness. We claim YOUR WARRIOR SPIRIT, YOUR FIGHTING FIERCENESS, YOUR FAITHFUL TRUST IN YOUR OWN POWER. Give us the gift of faith. We believe. Help our unbelief. Give us more faith. Amen.

 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be[i] against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.[j] 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
    we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
– Romans 8:31 – 37

About morgangascho

I grew up in Iowa, USA (famous for growing corn). I'm contemplative, I love writing, and blogging has become a hobby. Writing worship music is a way to engage in sweet conversation with the Divine Creator of the Universe, Jesus. He is my life. I am hidden in Him and I pray that someday I will know what that means. Until then, I'm seeking His glory, waiting for the day when it will all be revealed to me.
