What you need to change the world

I don’t know if it’s ironic or if it makes more sense that what we need to change the world doesn’t actually come from the world. Rather, the world came from Him. (Because what we need is not an ‘it’, but a Him. We need a Being.)

“I am the way, the Truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.” – Jesus

These are Jesus’ words. The God-man who made the universe spoke those words while He was on earth.

What we need to change the world is Jesus.

We don’t need behavior modification (telling people to act a different way because we want them to instead of based on their heart and motivation which Jesus could change). We don’t need more programs. There is no formula that will work that humans have come up with to change the world.

Jesus already has a formula for changing the world. It’s called discipleship. He talks about it in the last few verses of Matthew 28. He’s not just talking about converting people. He’s talking about discipleship: living, eating, breathing, shopping, talking, driving, cleaning with people. Doing the day to day things in a way that honors God in order that others see that being a Christian doesn’t include walking into church to say an amen, then walking out to deny God again.

To disciple someone, we need to know how to be discipled. The best way to do this is to be discipled. If you have not been discipled (been taught how to live by someone who loves Jesus, knows more than you, and inspires you by the way they live their life), start praying for someone to step into your life who will disciple you. It’s not just important. It’s a command from Jesus. (Matthew 28). Disciple. Be discipled.

Gain wisdom. Pass that wisdom on to others.

That’s how the world will change.

When the Church does what Jesus told us to do, the world will change. We are in the world but not of it. We are here to change the world. We are here to share the Gospel in order that by the grace of God, people receive Him, know Him, and follow Him.

“The Truth sets people free. It always has; it always will.” – Nicole

“I am the way, the TRUTH, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.” – Jesus

Teach us the Gospel. Every day. Over and over again – show us the Gospel. May we be instigators of knowing the Truth and passing it on. Use us to change the world, God. We will share Your gospel and watch Your Word go forth, knowing it does what You intend it to do (Isaiah 55:11). We will watch in anticipation, excitement, and expectancy knowing that the world will change when it finally sees You. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess and that will be a great day with even greater days to follow. Amen.

About morgangascho

I grew up in Iowa, USA (famous for growing corn). I'm contemplative, I love writing, and blogging has become a hobby. Writing worship music is a way to engage in sweet conversation with the Divine Creator of the Universe, Jesus. He is my life. I am hidden in Him and I pray that someday I will know what that means. Until then, I'm seeking His glory, waiting for the day when it will all be revealed to me.
